On Wednesday, October 16th, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Sherry-Lehmann Wine & Spirits, located at 505 Park Avenue at E.59th Street, will be tasting Dom Perignon Plenitude P2 Deuxieme 1998. On Tuesday, October 15th, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., popular restaurant The Gander, located at 15 West 18th Street, will be offering a FREE Champagne class/tasting. No set lineup, but stop by if you’re in the nabe. This tasting will include, among others, such producers as Jacquesson, Pol Roger (Winston Churchill’s favorite and served at the Royal Wedding) and Louis Roederer.Īlso on Saturday, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Amsterdam Wine Company, a new store that just opened this year and is located at 271 Amsterdam Avenue between W.72nd and W.73rd, will also be tasting champagnes. On Saturday, October 11th, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., 67 Wines, located at W.67th Street and Columbus Avenue, hosts a FREE grand tasting with Oscar Garcia, their Champagne buyer. Tonight, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Morrell Wines, located at One Rockefeller Plaza, hosts Adrian Chalk from Adrian Chalk Selections and Angel’s Share Wines, who will be tasting three different cuvees of Deutz Champagne. Mind you, I am still awaiting some information and will keep you updated as I learn more: So what to do if you didn’t score a ticket to the Grand Tasting? Well, it will take a fairly coordinated effort and some serious leg work, but I believe that you may be able to somewhat replicate the Grand Tasting by attending the many free tastings and seminars occurring throughout the week at wine stores and restaurants in NYC.īelow is the schedule as I know it so far. I am certain that they will be pouring a mind-blowing number of other-worldly delicious Champagnes from the best producers. I have to admit that the tasting was too expensive for me, which is not to say that it’s unfairly priced. The Grand Tasting, which is being held at Astor Wines, would set you back $350 if there were still any tickets available. So what’s on tap for La Fete du Champagne? A coordinated series of Champagne events occurring though out the week in NYC: tastings, seminars, etc., ultimately culminating in a Grand Tasting and gala dinner on Saturday, October 18th. There is a very exciting, week-long celebration of all things Champagne beginning tomorrow right here in NYC! La Fete du Champagne is presented by two titans of the Champagne industry: (1) Peter Liem, a highly acclaimed and award-winning wine writer who created, which is probably the most comprehensive online guide to Champagne and its wines on the planet and (2) Daniel Johnnes, the legendary Wine Director for Daniel Boulud’s Dinex Group, which includes DANIEL,DBGB, DB Bistro, Cafe Boulud, Bar Boulud and Boulud Sud, importer and creator of the totally epic Burgundy tasting event Le Paulee. A master whiskey expert will be on hand to answer any questions. They will be tasting over 25 different Bourbons, Ryes and Irish Whiskeys. Nicholas Avenue, holds their Whiskey Fest. Rienne Martinez from the estate will pour Spatlese from 19, as well as Auslese from 2001.įrom 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Columbia Wine Company, located at W.170th Street and St. Nicolas even bottles his own Cognac called Paul-Marie & Fils.įrom 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Chambers Street Wines, in FiDI, tastes back vintages from Weingut Carl Ehrhard, the renowned German Riesling producer. This is a very rare treat! I strongly suggest going and tasting these fabulous wines!įrom 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Back Label Wine Merchants, located at 111 W.20th Street, hosts Nicolas Palazzi of PM Spirits (a great NYC-based distributor of artisanal spirits), who tastes the delicious French wine-based spirit Cognac.
